The Farming is Risky Business (FRB) Web-Based Learning Platform is a free and comprehensive resource for teaching students about risk management concepts and Federal crop insurance programs. Sponsored by the USDA's Risk Management Agency (RMA), the FRB platform's content is state-specific and aligned with national and state content standards.
The FRB learning experience revolves around an interactive and competitive simulation game wherein students make annual production and marketing decisions on a simulated farming operation. After students make their decisions, the simulation runs and delivers their financial results. In many ways, the simulation resembles better-known games such as "The Farming Game" or even "Life." The FRB content and simulation are dynamic and highly engaging, with unique outcomes that change for every student in every workshop.
